Our Generation II Expander Dies completely capture the mandrel within the die so the mandrel cannot pull out. An O-ring in the die cap allows the mandrel to float a bit and find its own center within the case neck. All three Generation II dies are precision machined from stainless steel and the 7/8 inch - 14 dies include the Sinclair Stainless Steel Split Lock Ring. Large caliber expander dies accept only 35 to 50 caliber mandrels. All expander mandrels for Sinclair Expander Bodies are sold separately: Find Mandrels here.

Unbreakable and necessary for 6PPC(02.11.2011)
When forming 6PPC brass from LAPUA .220 Russian's you need this! Turn this on your loadin press, slip little imperial sizing die wax to .220 brass, small press with this and you have almost ready world most accudate 6PPC brass. Cheap, simple and unbreakable. With changeable mandrel you can use this very large scale of calibers. Rubbered O-ring beetween mandrel and die body allows small movements and it's more smoother for brass.
Sinclair expander Die.(09.08.2012)
I use this Expander Die with all my Reloading. I expand 270 WSM to 7MM for my long range rifle. It puts the right amount oftension on each bullet. It also smooths the inside of the case neck. Great Product. Very well made like all Sinclair products.
Very good product (20.05.2016)
Keeps necks straight with just the right amount of tension. Some expander balls leave brass with way too much neck tension not to mention the occasional neck pulled off center creating off center amo, Fliers. This is a simple well made tool and well worth the money.
Works great!(10.10.2016)
I purchased this expander die to improve neck uniformity with my .308 and .223 brass for target and competitions. The die is well made and easy to adjust. Under the cap is an o-ring which allows for some expander float. This helps the expander self-align and improves concentricity. I have used it with carbide and HSS expanders and recommend using lube for either. Imperial wax or a lanolin based spray work well.
Best of all it works with my PMA carbide and HSS expanding mandrels!
Why did I wait so long(16.07.2018)
Insert your desired arbor into the die and screw it into your press , while not over-tightening the cap to allow for a small amount of "float" for the arbor pin . I tried both Imperial Die Lube , and Imperial Dry Lube , and found the Dry Lube worked much better , and gave a smoother extraction of the arbor from the case . Since I shoot both F-Open , and F-TR , I go thru a lot of cases in a month , and this tool saves a lot of time , and improves concentricity to a standard of .0010-.0015 . Easy to set-up , easy to use , and worth every penny . Only wish I had purchased one three years ago . Nothing negative to say about this product . This tool , properly used will improve accuracy , Period !
Great Product!(21.04.2019)
I use this product in conjunction with the Sinclair turning tool. It's simple to set up. I've also used this with a turning mandrel to set .002 neck tension on 6.5 Creeedmoor brass. Great product. I love that you can use the o-ring on the cap to "float" the mandrel or remove it if you want the mandrel locked down.
Don't reload w/o it!(26.06.2019)
After I did a study of resized brass concentricity, I put all of my expander balls in storage. I either neck bushing size or use an expander die such as this one. I use Lymans which may be less expensive, but this kind of tool is a "can't do without" in my shop.
Perfect Approach To Minimize Neck Runout(06.09.2019)
I regularly had problems with excessive neck runout using standard sizing dies (RCBS and Redding). I now remove the expander rod from those sizing dies and size cases, followed by a pass through this expander die with the appropriate mandrel. Runout is regularly .002" or less with most brands of brass.
Great results(30.09.2019)
I used this in conjunction with a Forster full length sizing die, neck turned Norma 300 wsm converted to 7 wsm. My 5 shot groups went from being 0.5-0.8 MOA to consistent 0.5-0.6 MOA at 200+ yards. It is easy to use, but make sure you lube the inside of your case necks and the expander mandrel to make the process as easy as possible. I do get better results from a full length bushing die (>0.5 MOA all day) with no expander mandrel, but this is very close and definitely an improvement over using the expander in the die. I will be experimenting with this and a neck honed Forester die for 6.5 PRC to see if I can match the bushing die setup.
Works great on new brass!(06.11.2019)
I love how the mandrels are set .001 under bullet diameter for proper neck tension. Smooth operation and great price. Great for use on new brass to expand necks and not overwork brass. Another great product from Sinclair!
One of the best(04.12.2019)
I have in the past I have struggled with case run out
while neck turning after annealing of virgin brass. The brass seemed to run out .002" -.005" which was leading to an inaccurate T.I.R. not to mention the amount of slop in relationship to the turning tool arbor and the case necks ID. That is to say if it even fit on the arbor completely. I tried the following methods removing the neck tension completely by not using the bushing in my match grade 6.5 Creedmmor die. I tried the full length die with just the ex pander ball, and tried another brand Fl resize die. All of which led to either a tight fit or one that was very sloppy on the turning tool's arbor. None of these were acceptable to me. Then I found that Sinclair made a die that just neck sized the case's ID either .001" undersize or a neck diameter of .001" oversize to allow for a clearance fit on my turning tool. As a plus my run out is now very negligible resulting in an accpetable neck turning operation. Also if you happen to damage a neck by dropping a case by using the correct mandrel you can correct repair the neck.. Needless to say I add another step and now again neck size with the busing inserted in my match grade die set. All in all this Sinclair expanding neck mandrel die works great. I strongly reccomend oredering the correct expander die body and the accompanying mandrels. You won't regret it !
Well Made (03.03.2020)
I found this item to be well machined especially the threads. It is also nice that they put a clamp style locking ring on it. Unfortunately I think this item is a little bit overpriced for what it is, itâs just a threaded hollow tube with a cap on it. Donât forget you still have to pay extra to buy an expanding die. You can buy a sizing die for the price they charge for this empty die body. I feel this item shouldâve been priced around $28-$30 instead of $33.
Excellent die(29.05.2020)
This die works very well. It will open the necks up and create consistent neck tension. The O-ring in the top allows a little "float" so the necks don't get pulled out of alignment. It works extremely well in a co-ax press.
Very nice piece of equipment(04.06.2020)
Very nice piece of equipment. Excellent machining. I'm using it with a carbide mandrel to ensure .308Win case mouths are consistently sized so I get good neck tension. Also, using the system to ensure properly turned necks, again for consistent neck tension.
