Cheaper than a new rib!(09/03/2010)
I used this tool to remove two severe dents in the rib of my Ruger O/U. I was very tentative at first, but once I got used to the pressure it worked like a charm. You do have to slightly over tighten to ensure the dent is removed. A heavy hand could convert a dent to a hump. Patience and checking with a steel rule will keep you in a great place.
Handy little tool(10/07/2012)
Neatest thing since a pocket on a shirt. Pulls dinged ribs right up. Like the other reviewer noted, you do need to pull it up a little higher than flat and check it with a flat edge, but works like it's supposed to.
works graet, easy to use (01/12/2014)
I have used this tool about 10 times and it has worked great, easy and fast, One great tool.
Better than a gunsmith (13/06/2015)
Simple to use tool that works! I used this on my baby a Perazzi, did not want to ship the gun off. Prior dent is not noticeable after a bit of cold blue touch up. Use with caution, adjust, measure and repeat.
Christmas surprise (26/12/2016)
Unsightly crimp in my over under vent rib near the mid sight. Took it to three gunsmiths. Two refused to fix it and one wanted $150 and to remove my mid sight mark. I said no and lived with the crimp for a year. Then this Christmas my wife ordered the Murray vent rib tool from Brownells.. Was just going to test the fit of the tool and realized I could fix it. Took me seconds and my barrell was good as new. Every shotgunner with vent ribs needs this tool.
A tool all shotgunners need!(07/09/2019)
When I first received this tool, I thought "What a simple idea". I wasn't sure how it was going to work, but I took a chance on purchasing it - Best money I've ever spent. It removes anything from the smallest to the largest dented ribs on shotguns. Take your time, go slow, and repeat as necessary to remove dents. Well worth the money and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Quality, strong, simple tool that works(06/04/2020)
Kudos to Brownells for offering a tool that simply works. Nothing fancy or complicated about this: just a very well designed and machined tool that straightens dings and dents out of your vent ribs. Sturdy and made of solid brass and powder-coated steel, this tool is clearly built for professional use. For the home gunsmith, it will pay for itself after two or three uses in taking dents out of ribs that your gunsmith would probably charge $25 to $50 to remove--and very probably using this very tool.
